What this is. A tool for preparing an IRS information return that reports on an instrument that already exists. The instrument comes first; the form reports it.

What this is not. It does not create value, discharge a debt, or generate a refund. A form prepared with nothing behind it is a false statement — and this tool refuses to prepare one.

Who should use it. A person or trust that has issued or holds a real instrument and needs to report it correctly. If you do not have an underlying instrument, this tool is not for you and will not produce a form.
